Privacy Policy for JobAgent

JobAgent is a Chrome extension that helps users evaluate job listings. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including GDPR.

Data Collection

JobAgent collects the following information to provide and improve our service:

• Email address - Collected via Google authentication for account management and logged for debugging purposes
• Webpage content - When you manually activate the tool on a job listing page, the content is processed locally or securely transmitted to our AI services
• Usage data - Server logs containing timestamps, job URLs analyzed, request metadata, and IP addresses

Server Logs and Debugging

For security, debugging, and service improvement purposes, we collect and store server logs when you use JobAgent. These logs may include:

• Your email address (from Google authentication)
• Job URLs you analyze (including full URLs with query parameters)
• Job details (company name, job title, location, pay range)
• Your preferences settings (location, pay expectations, etc.)
• Timestamps of your activity
• Request metadata (IP address, request IDs, processing duration)

Purpose: We use this data under legitimate interest to:

• Debug technical issues you may experience
• Detect and prevent fraud or security threats
• Improve the quality and performance of our service
• Analyze usage patterns to enhance features

Retention: Server logs are automatically deleted after 30 days.

Storage: Logs are securely stored on our servers (AWS EC2) with appropriate access controls and are not shared with third parties.

Data Usage

Any webpage content processed by the extension is used locally or securely transmitted to our AI service providers to analyze job listings. The analysis results are displayed to you within the extension.

Permissions

The extension uses host permissions only when you activate it on a specific page. This enables functionality such as:

• Text extraction for job analysis
• Displaying results within the webpage

We do not access pages you visit unless you explicitly activate JobAgent on that page.

Third-Party Services

JobAgent interacts with the following third-party services to provide functionality:

• AI Services (Groq, Anthropic Claude, OpenAI) - For job listing content analysis
• Google Authentication - For secure user login
• Glassdoor - For company rating information (via web scraping)

These services are used solely to provide requested features and results. Each service has its own privacy policy governing their data handling practices.

International Data Transfers

JobAgent processes and stores data in the United States and may transfer your personal data to service providers located outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including:

• AWS (Amazon Web Services) - Server hosting in US regions
• OpenAI, Anthropic, Groq - AI processing services based in the United States
• Google - Authentication services

These transfers are necessary to provide our service. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place:

• Data is transferred only to providers with adequate security measures
• Major service providers (Google, AWS) comply with applicable data protection frameworks
• All data transmissions use encryption (HTTPS/TLS)
• Data retention is limited to 30 days

If you are located in the EEA, you acknowledge that by using JobAgent, your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside the EEA, including the United States, which may have different data protection laws.

Your Rights (GDPR)

Under GDPR and other privacy laws, you have the right to:

• Access your data: Download a copy of your server logs in machine-readable format (JSON)
• Data portability: Receive your data in a structured, commonly used format
• Deletion: Request permanent deletion of your logs and account data
• Rectification: Correct inaccurate personal data
• Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Opt-out: Discontinue use of the extension at any time

Self-Service Data Rights: You can download or delete your data directly from the JobAgent extension:

• Open JobAgent extension → Settings → Other → "Download My Data" or "Delete My Data"
